Craig A. Goettsch

director_goettsch_bioCraig A. Goettsch serves as Education and Budget Director for the Iowa Insurance Division. He previously served as the Division’s Superintendent of Securities beginning in March, 1981. He began working for the Securities Division in 1975 as a Securities Examiner.

A native of Davenport, Iowa, Mr. Goettsch attended and received his B.A. degree with honors, from the University of Iowa in 1972. He earned his J.D. degree, with distinction, from University of Iowa Law School in 1975 and was admitted to the Iowa Bar that year. He is a member of the Polk County Bar Association.

Mr. Goettsch served as President of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) for a one-year term commencing September 29, 1993. He has served on numerous NASAA committees in addition to serving ten years as a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Goettsch has testified on securities issues on behalf of NASAA in the United States Congress, and in the states of Florida, Nebraska, Ohio, California, and Wisconsin. He has served on task forces of state securities regulators to negotiate multistate settlements in cases involving Lloyd’s of London, Salomon Brothers, and Drexel Burnham Lambert Group. Mr. Goettsch has served as an adjunct professor, teaching securities law at Drake Law School and Iowa Law School. He serves as the Secretary of the Iowa Jump$tart Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting financial literacy for youth. He has served as a founder and trustee of the Investor Protection Trust, a public charity dedicated to investor education. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Investor Protection Institute, a national organization devoted to investor education and protection.
